Plumbing has many valves. These are devices for controlling the flow of liquid around a system. Richmond Plumbers are professionals. This is normally through pipework. These valves are very important in the plumbing world as they could be controlling the supply of water or other important like flammable liquids to a particular area or appliance. Each valve has a specific method of operation: The Butterfly Valve has a disc that is the same size as the inside diameter of the pipework. The disc is connected to a lever that turns the disc to adjust the water flow. The main disadvantage of a butterfly valve is that the disc is always present in the flow of water, so there is always a pressure drop. A Richmond Plumber is trained to work on all valve types. These valves however, allow for quite accurate flow control. They need a gasket to fully seal, which is a maintenance item. The Globe Valve used to limit water flow. They are fitted with a stopper that rises and lowers by the use of a wheel on a shaft. Globe valves are used when flow needs to be altered regularly, but also where the flow doesn’t have to be fully open as an internal baffle restricts the flow. Globe valves is named after the globe or ball like appearance of its body. The Check Valve allows water to flow one way only. A stop check valve is operational and lets the user completely stop the flow, even in the right direction, but not allow backflow when opened up. The Pressure Balanced Valve maintains a constant water temperature for domestic showers or baths. A diaphragm in the valve allows the user to set the mix of hot and cold water, but if a pressure drop of cold water occurs (toilet nearby is flushed), the diaphragm shifts to limit an excessive hot water flow. Some areas require pressure balanced valves in domestic bathrooms and showers to stop accidental scalding.
